*Non-Profit and University members receive the same benefits as Contributor Members, at no cost to either Appia or the Linux Foundation (via LF’s Associate membership class).

Per the Appia Project Charter, Steering and General Members must also hold at least a Silver membership with the Linux Foundation, scaled by consolidated employee count. Whether Contributor Members are also required to hold LF membership is not settled in the documents on file — the Charter’s own wording excludes Contributor from this requirement, though this should be confirmed directly with the formation team before it’s published, as smaller/non-profit applicants may instead qualify for the Linux Foundation’s separate, lower-cost Associate membership class.

Annual Fees

Membership LevelAnnual Fee
Steering Member$50,000 Appia + LF membership
General Member$25,000 Appia + LF membership
Contributor Member$1,000 (Appia + LF membership
Non-Profit & University$0 Appia + $0 LF, via Associate membership

The LF fee is based on the Linux Foundation’s Silver membership tier, which is scaled by consolidated employee count (including all employees of related, sister, and subsidiary entities). Non-profit and university applicants typically qualify for the Linux Foundation’s Associate membership class instead of Silver, which carries no standard fee.

Already an LF member? If your organisation already holds a qualifying Linux Foundation membership, the LF portion of the fee above is waived — only the Appia membership fee applies.
